ALUCOAT celebrates the First Century of its Factory in Linares

ALUCOAT CELEBRATES THE FIRST CENTURY OF ITS FACTORY IN LINARES The factory has been for already a century an industrial and technological reference for the city of Linares, Jaén. Nowadays, Alucoat is one of the most important manufacturers of aluminum foil coatings in Europe. The event included a visit to the factory and a wreath at the monument of the mill, located at the entrance of the facility. ALIBERICO´s President has referred in his speech to the changes in the factory since it acquisition in 2001 to join the ALIBERICO GROUP, and especially to investments held in during the past five years, that amount 20 million euros, and had intended to modernize technologically to expand its product range. "ALUCOAT CONVERSIÓN continues to be an industrial and technological reference in Linares and Jaen, and has become one of the largest manufacturers of its kind in Europe," said Clemente González Soler. The San Gonzalo factory with 24,000 square feet buildings is located on a site of 84,000 square meters. Currently, it exports more than half of its production over 45 countries on the five continents. Its product range consists of aluminum coatings for refrigeration, insulation and soundproofing, and packaging for the pharmaceutical and food industry, among other applications. The factory was inaugurated on December 21, 1911, after the company being formed a year before by Alvaro Figueroa San Gonzalo Torres, Count of Romanones, and his brother Gonzalo, Marquis and Earl of Villamejor Loeches. The activity of the society was to manufacture aluminum products, lead and derivatives. After the parentheses during the Civil War, in which the factory was owned by the military and was dedicated to the manufacture war materials, the company faced difficult years of crisis and managed to survive by diversifying their production. In 1945, the factory began to produce blanks for the National Coin Factory, which resulted in an increasing activity and a major expansion of its workforce. The factory became property of the Spanish Society of Electro Construction in 1948 and remained so until 1972 when it joined the National Aluminum Company, Inc. (ENDASA). The subsequent merger latter with ALUGASA INESPAL the factory in Linares was renamed INESPAL CONVERSIÓN, 100% owned by SEPI. In 2001, the factory was privatized and began a new journey within the ALIBÉRICO GROUP under the name ALUCOAT CONVERSIÓN. About ALIBÉRICO GROUP ALIBERICO GROUP was founded in 1987 and it is composed by 35 companies with a turnover exceeding 200 million euros, of which about 60% from its activity is taken abroad. In total, the Group directly employs over 1,000 professionals, including factories and sales offices in Spain and overseas. |
